Especially as it applies not just to the larger society, but to our organizations, corporations, institutions, companies, and other social groupings.
We are always reading about organizations that say they want change, that openly try to change, but ultimately fail. Maybe this is why.
I do not think we are talking about a malevolent or even conscious conspiracy, but rather one based on security, inertia, and fear of the unknown. Our tendency to protect ourselves can be buried deep within our minds, our processes, and our structures.
At one point, we built walls to protect us. Now we use words and policies.
